After Your Service

Congratulations! You've defended an expensive asset from corrosion and rust.

What material did I get?

You received the best, most washout-resistant Lanolin available - WoolWax! Lanolin is sheep's wool oil. It is non-toxic, non-flammable and environmentally friendly. WoolWax does not drip and has minimal scent that goes away quickly. It looks and feels like gel after application, and as dust and debris coats it, it loses it's shine and starts to look and feel like a soft wax - but will stay greasy underneath. It will turn gray/black over time.

When can I drive my vehicle?

Since Lanolin never fully dries, you can drive your vehicle now. Driving it is good - road dust/debris actually starts to coat and coagulate with the material, adding an additional protective layer. Dusty/dirt roads are your friend in these first days! The material will stay tacky.

Your first time driving

Any excess on your engine block or exhaust will smoke off, and should be mostly smoked off in the 10 minutes we allowed your vehicle to run upon completion. But you may notice a bit more the first time you drive. Any scent will fade away after a couple of drives.

How do I care for the treatment?

Driving is the best thing for your new coating. Road dust will help it firm up, and forms a protective layer. It will lose it's shine, and turn grey/black. We feel it helps to wait 3-4 weeks before going through an undercarriage wash, to let that dust/debris start to form a nice firm outer layer. You should avoid direct pressure washing it at a very close distance - water will not remove WoolWax easily, but very high pressure at a very close distance can reduce it's lifespan.

How long does this last?

WoolWax is thick and resists washout very well. Because it does not dry, it is self-healing - meaning if road debris scrapes it, the product will "gel over" and repair itself. It can last years. There is a helpful, cumulative effect when you have your 2nd, 3rd and additional coatings done. The exposed areas of your undercarriage should be undercoated two to three years depending on climate and your use of the vehicle. Commercial vehicles with heavy winter use may do every 12 or 18 months. Even having your vehicle undercoated just ONE time provides very meaningful protection... you may buy yourself that extra few years you needed!
